3 Sparkling New Year’s Eve Cocktails

The French 75

1 1/4 oz gin
1/4 oz simple syrup (or 2 tsp superfine sugar)
1/4 oz lemon juice
Brut Champagne (or other dry sparkling wine)

Combine gin, sugar, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an iced champagne flute and fill with Champagne.

Classic Champagne Flip
Champagne Flip recipe: There are many creamy champagne cocktail recipes that call for egg. This one is delightfully frothy and quite nice strained into a flute.

3/4 oz Brandy
1/2 oz Cointreau
1/4 oz heavy cream
1/4 oz simple sugar syrup
1 egg yolk
4 oz Champagne
Freshly grated nutmeg (garnish).

Shake brandy, Cointreau, cream, sugar syrup and egg yolk over ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a champagne flute, top with Champagne and garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

The Black Velvet
The Black Velvet is nearly 150 years old, first ‘invented’ at the Brook’s Club, London in 1861.

Combine equal parts Champagne and stout beer by pouring beer into a chilled glass (allowing any foam to settle) then topping with Champagne.
